Launch Library: Life and Physical Science (Grades 6-12)

Science6th–12th3 activities

This Launch Library bundle gives virtual and hybrid program teachers a ready-to-use set of life and physical science activities for grades 6 through 12. Students start with foundational concepts like photosynthesis and cell structure, build through chemistry and earth science, and progress to interactive 3D explorations of biological systems and molecular structures. Each activity is self-paced and self-checking, so students can work independently or in remote cohorts. Activities in this package (in teaching order, simplest to most complex): 1. Photosynthesis β€” Interactive lesson introducing how plants convert light into energy (6th grade) 2. Build a Cell β€” Drag-and-drop activity where students assemble and label a cell (7th to 8th grade) 3. Solar Power: The Chloroplast Engine β€” Explore the light-dependent and light-independent reactions of photosynthesis (9th grade) 4. Powering the Cell β€” Trace the stages of cellular respiration from glycolysis to the electron transport chain (9th grade) 5. Cell Cycle β€” Identify and sequence the stages of the cell cycle from interphase to cytokinesis (9th grade) 6. Acids and Bases β€” Classify acids and bases by pH, compare strong and weak acids, and calculate neutralization (9th grade) 7. Why Does Water's Boiling Point Matter? β€” Investigate the physical properties of water using real NIST thermodynamic data (Mixed HS) 8. Solar System 3D Explorer β€” Rotate and tap planets to learn about each one with info cards (Mixed HS) 9. Earth Cutaway 3D Explorer β€” Explore a 3D cutaway of Earth's layers from crust to core (Mixed HS) 10. Tornado 3D Explorer β€” Rotate a 3D tornado and tap to learn how it forms and what each part does (Mixed HS) 11. Brain Command Center 3D β€” Explore a 3D cross-section of the human brain and tap regions to learn their functions (Mixed HS) 12. Meet Your Heart: The Body's Double Pump β€” 3D cross-section of the human heart with tappable chambers and blood-flow pathways (Mixed HS) 13. ATP Synthase 3D β€” Explore the molecular machine that powers the cell through a 3D cross-section (Mixed HS) 14. Hemoglobin 4HHB 3D β€” Rotate and tap a 3D model of the hemoglobin protein to learn how it carries oxygen (Mixed HS)
